Dosh

We went to see Andrew Bird tonight at the Variety Playhouse, and that was cool and all. About halfway through, Bird mentioned that his bandmate, Dosh, composed music of his own. “Wait”, I thought. “Dosh is here?” I’d had no idea that there was any connection between Dosh and Andrew Bird, and I suddenly felt like I had gotten two concerts for the price of one. For my friends who ribbed me for my excitement, here are a couple of Dosh tracks.

Well, Real Holographic Simulated Evil Lincoln,

That’s not very nice. Anyway, Dosh is a pretty good drummer, and seemed to be doing OK without a digital workstation last night. Try to remember what mom always said: “Just ‘cuz it’s not solid-state, that don’t give you the right to hate”.

I will, however, be adding “remember when we had yamaha” to the list of band/song names I will use if I am ever asked to form an instrumental post-rock band to open for Godspeed You Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky or God is an Astronaut. Probably would use it as a song name, as I’ve recently decided that “The Risk is the Plan” would be an excellent post-rock band name.

And, once this page is indexed, it should be the only result for a Google Search for “the risk is the plan” or “remember when we had yamaha” (in each case, with quotation marks).
